WISCONSIN STATE FAIR
Aug. 12th, 2007 03:12 amIt's stooorming. It was raining and thundering at the fair earlier and we were afraid we'd be rained on at Switchfoot, but thankfully we were not.
Lesse...
1) Switchfoot is AWESOME. I mean, I listen to them a lot, but... I forget j-- WOAH BIG THUNGER -- just how inspiring and amazing their songs are. Like, seriously, a few of the songs gave me chills. Josh Groban was great, yes, but Switchfoot, even with this being my third time seeing them live, still is like the best concert experience I've ever had (not that I have many).
I didn't get much video because my camera ran out of batteries pretty quick... BUT HERE'S A VIDEO OF MOST OF "GONE": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Plz6cheeFI4
2) OMG. STORY. So we were in the Expo Center which has this hueg area with displays selling crap. A drunk guy, beer in hand, walks by in a Bears shirt rambling drunkenly about "da bears". But... his friend... was wearing a shirt that said, "He likes the cock" with an arrow pointing to the left... and on his left... was his drunk friend.
I wanted a picture so bad but didn't manage one.
3) It's awesome having ~connections~ at the State Fair. For the record.
4) I'm tired :( We parked at my uncle's house (SAW HIS NEW PUPPY :DDD) and talked him into dropping us off at the fair. But, at the fair, we didn't want to call him and bother him (it was already 11), so we walked all the way back to his house. In the dark. It was a looong walk. And loud music gives me a headache, makes my ears ring, and makes my jaw ache (THOUGH SWITCHFOOT WAS WORTH IT).
5) Did you know Switchfoot's opening act was the lead singer of Tonic, which I had never heard of, but I figured out through him playing the song that they are responsible for this song? And he was a pretty good opening act -- the man can sing. Seemed like he was up there for ages, though :P He reminds me a little of an older James Cleare. Not vocally, though. He kept having problems with his guitar going out of tune (probably the weather, I'd think) and was complaining about it as he re-tuned it for like the third time, and then said, "Eh, good enough" and went into his next song, and Bertha and I looked at each other and lulzed that that's totally us tuning our instruments, "THAT'S CLOSE ENOUGH OH WELL" and it was a lulz moment.
