You know what I love?

David Archuleta and One Republic singing Apologize

It would've been pretty win if David actually sang that song in the competition.

Things I love.

1) Singer guy from One Republic consistently pwning that high note. Effortlessly.

2) David's "yeah, yeah" at 1:35

3) Around 2 mins, they sing the "It's too late to apologize, it's too late" twice and the first time David sings the high note and One Republic guy sings the lower harmony, and then the second time they switch.

4) The lack of pressure seems to make David twice as confident a performer. It's a little... sexy. I'm allowed to say that because I'm 17 :)

5) The cello.

6) Jabbawockeez danced to a remix of that song on ABDC.

Guys. Did I seriously never post this?

1) I love Jeffery Self.

Keep David Archuleta Alive

2) THE "YELLOW" DRESS (WHICH IS APPARENTLY ORANGE SINCE APPARENTLY I DON'T KNOW MY COLORS) IS ALIIIIIVE

I have a nerdy fascination with the costumes of the female swings in Spring Awakening. The screenies on the right, from their performance on The View, is all I've ever seen of the mysterious yellow -- ORANGE -- dress worn there by Jenn Damiano who later, and for most of her time with the show, wore the purpley dress. And then when SA ended up with three female swings (as opposed to the two they started with, Jenn and Krysta), I assumed that Socha, who replaced Krysta, would inherit Krysta's dress (which she did), and then Eryn, who replaced Jenn, would inherit the purpley dress and then the new girl, Jenna, would end up with the yelloworange dress. But no. JENNA got the purpley dress and Eryn got a new dress. So I assumed the costume department just had something against the orange dress and it would be lost to the depths of Spring Awakening lore. UNTIL THE ABOVE PICTURE. (Which has Eryn in the purpley dress next to Jenna but I'm too lazy to go get the full picture).

If they're going to do a yellow dress/purple dress/Krysta dress thing now, they ought to just replace the Krysta dress with Eryn's new one. I have no idea how the ugliest dress of that bunch has never been touched while the others get rotated around. I also rather like Eryn's dress and don't want to see that get lost to the depths of SA lore.

3) My parents are back, with my grandma here for a month. It's nice to have the responsibility off my shoulders and to just have their company.

4) I have a bazillion SA icons I will post soonish. HERE'S A SAMPLING OF THINGS TO COME.

OH WAIT LULZ I HAVE AN ICON WITH ERYN IN THE PURPLE DRESS

5) I hope to get all my stuff together for mailing out the first batch of DVDs and such tomorrow (with the envelopes I have).

6) Gahhh I'm getting so behind on GTC stuff. This is going to come back and bite me in the ass, I know it.

7) PROM IS TOMORROW.

So, tomorrow my parents are leaving. I haven't really thought about it much -- I don't think there's much I can do to really prepare for it. Hopefully, being in a more stable emotional condition, things will be a little easier this time. The day they come back, however, is going to be insane. Have to move my grandma in here and everything and on top of that, it's prom. I'm glad my cousin is going to come over and help me get ready/drive me to school to take the shuttle. I'd like to separate myself from the chaos a little.

And it has been chaos. Oh, adults. I love how majority of the people involved in this venture are not often willing to put my grandma's needs over their own selfish ones.

Lighter news? I don't know. I've talked about SA a lot and I've already dissected American Idol (though, Carly being kicked off? Did NOT see that coming).

Did you see Paul Stanley of KISS/Canadian Phantom fame in the audience right between the judges opinions and the flashing of the phone number at the end of David A's performance? :)

I still have an epic post to post, but it's not very completed yet. Inevitably when it is done it'll be so long no one will want to read it.

In other news, tomorrow is the day of silence. Today I warned all my teachers I'd be participating, and they were all very good about it. Mr. Byrne was like... amazingly nice about it. I wish I could make it to a breaking the silence event but, you know, I won't have any ride to take me to one. Or anywhere except school in the morning until prom :x

In other other news, I'm sick :( I've been sickish for a few days now -- at least it's not like last time I was sick :P I slept for a while tonight and I still don't feel entirely there. I would probably stay home tomorrow if it weren't for the APUSH test and DoS. So, I'm gonna go shower and sleep and hopefully I'll be feeling a little better tomorrow.

Upon further review on YouTube:

David Archuleta: Now, I love David A. He's young and adorkable and part of me sort of wants him to win because I love his humility and all. But. That Think of Me performance was... a mess. Bad choice, really bad choice. There were a billion better things he could've done. And, he messed up his lyrics. Twice.

1: Lyric (OLCR): Think of all the things we've shared and seen
David: Think of all the things we've said and seen

Now, I'm pretty sure, correct me if I'm wrong, that the only variants of that lyric are "Think of August when the trees were green" (Most places) and "Think of August when the world was green" (Vegas). So, David is, well, WRONG.

2: Lyric: Imagine me, trying too hard to put you from my mind.
David: Imagine me *mumblemumblesomethinglikesoftlyhaveyouonmy* mind.

At least the judges didn't seem to notice? Guess they're not PotO fans XD

David Cook: WOAH. Now, it was a little too rocker Gerry-esque for my taste... but he nailed the "be" and overall it was... way better than I EVER could have expected from him. For the win.

I was busy with GTC stuff so I didn't get to REALLY sit down and watch the show (that's what YouTube the next day is for!) but I do have these things to say:

1) HOLY SHIT DAVID ARCHULETA? THINK OF ME? SERIOUSLY? SERIOUSLY?  I NEED TO SEE IT BEFORE I CAN COMMENT ON WHAT I THOUGHT OF IT THOUGH I CAN ALREADY SAY HE PROBABLY OVER-RIFFED IT BECAUSE HE DOES THAT A LOT BUT REGARDLESS: I WAS SURE THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE STRANGEST SONG CHOICE OF THE NIGHT AND THEN:

2) HOLY SHIT DAVID COOK. WHAT. THE. HELL. THAT WAS... SO TOTALLY UNEXPECTED. SO. TOTALLY. I MEAN. WOAH. AND THEN... HE DIDN'T BUTCHER IT, AS FAR AS I COULD TELL. THAT LAST NOTE WAS A BAD CHOICE BUT... OVERALL, IT WASN'T A DISASTER OR ANYTHING AND... I'M JUST AWESTRUCK THAT HE SANG THAT SONG. THE LAST THING I EXPECTED FROM HIM.

3) GOING BACKWARDS, JASON CASTRO -- I WAS SURE HE'D BUTCHER THAT SONG BUT THEN IT WAS KIND OF AMAZING AND I'M GLAD HE DIDN'T DO LIKE, ANY DREAM WILL DO.

4) LOLOL WHATEVER THE GIRLS

Will have more thoughts after I see the performances again.

5) I CAN'T. WAIT. TO SEE. WHAT JEFFERY SELF SAYS ABOUT THIS. SERIOUSLY. WOW.

GUYS HOLY SHIT XDDD

So, I've been trying to look up some more info on David Archuleta's supposed love of Broadway musicals so I can make a bet on what he's going to sing tomorrow.

And I found this journal thing online that he wrote when he was doing some junk in New York in summer 2002 (he had to have been... 11), and he says this:

"We got up and packed up so we could leave that day. Then we went to another musical, The Prince and the Pauper I liked it a lot. There were 3 kids in it and one of them was in Les Miserables when he was younger, and the girl sang really, really well!!"

You know who was in Prince and the Pauper off-Broadway in summer of 2002 and was in Les Mis when he was younger?

Spring Awakening ensemble member Gerard Canonico

GUYS DAVID ARCHULETA PROBABLY SAW GERARD WHO ELSE CAN IT BE OMG WTF XDDDD THAT'S SO INSANE.

Now, I have an epic post I've been working on, but sharing this couldn't wait.

(Link)

David Archuleta singing I'll Be. Always loved the song. Love the boy's voice.

He has such awkward gestures, though. I try not to let it bother me. Ironically, I never notice the lip-licking.

Video description says this is from "a few years ago" (and also warns of fangirl screaming so you might wanna volume watch at the beginning and end).

I adore his sheepish response to the fangirling XD

Edit: I can't get over how much he reminds me of Robi sometimes... Robi even flubs a lyric at the beginning there. David A's mother is from Honduras.

I think there's only one thing I can say to that.

Also, I was trying to call David's song for ALW week, but then Jeffery Self went and called Any Dream Will Do for him and... he's probably going to be right. Darnit. Also, his videos are pretty funny but I'm rebelling against subscribing because he uses fake tags and I do not approve.

Okay, um, 17-year-old American Idol contestant David Archuleta.

Should be the next epic Georg, Ernst, or other? Bertha and I were pondering this as we watched one of his performances. He plays piano. Discuss.

Too bad his dad supposedly is a betch.
