Ladies and gentlemen, the first of the month is upon us.

Not the first of any month, however. It's the first... of November.

And November is National Novel Writing Month.

50,000 words. 30 days.

It starts here.

Every day I intend to update you on my progress, and this year maybe I'll share an excerpt from each day as well.

Blank pages are disconcerting, nerve-wracking. I avoid my blank-page system by starting my NaNo writing with a quote. This year, it starts with:
