Happy New Year

It's fascinating to look back on a year ago and try and comprehend how things have changed. It's a hard thing to wrap my mind around -- a year. There are so many things I love this year that I didn't last, so many things I know now that I didn't before, so many people I count among my friends who I could not have imagined.

So what does this mean for the next year? Partly, it's frightening. So many things ahead of me that I cannot see. Partly, it's comforting. A year ago today I could not imagine I'd be where I am -- surely, wherever I find myself a year from now, I will rise to meet it.

Last year I said that though I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, I was determined to push myself forward and take chances -- to do something extraordinary with my time. I am proud to say that I have pushed myself this year, that I have taken chances and continued to search out the extraordinary that I want for myself. I look forward to continuing that task into the unknown of 2008.
