CHICAGO (take two)
Mar. 22nd, 2009 10:53 pmI guess I should actually say something about Chicago. It was my second time ever going there -- when I was like... 10, I went there with my mom and sister and aunt and cousins and we went to Shedd Aquarium and Navy Pier.
FIRST OF ALL, it's big. Like, really big. Like, I knew it was big, but it's really big. It takes up a big amount of space. The buildings are big. It's big.
There's a lot of mass transit-y things. And a lot of people. Around here you sort of walk or take the bus. And you can't get a very large amount of places by bus outside the city. In Chicago there were like... taxis everywhere... and trolleys... and buses... and Metra. And I'm used to the people walking in the city not being like... business people. And my definition of city is now totally different.
I ate with some friends at the Hard Rock Cafe and even though I usually hate eating out it was REALLY good (and really expensive).
And then we saw CSO which like... man. Sitting there listening to their first song it was difficult to comprehend that it could be real. It was like, more than just feeling like you were listening to a CD live, but also feeling like you were listening to a really really good CD live. If you could assign the feeling of floating to a sound, it would sound like some of that string playing. Incredible. Honestly, other than the piece from which we're playing a movement in orchestra, the rest didn't blow me away so much, but even just the first part was worth the ticket price. And even though I'm in orchestra I'm not even that much of a strings geek like some people.
AND THEN I CAME HOME.
And tomorrow morning I have an orthodontist appointment :(
By the way, does anyone know any good, panfandom RPGs with a simple concept that would work with me bringing in a canonically dead character (Wendla Bergmann), doesn't have too many people (like, a couple dozen at most), and has few to no SA characters at it already? Preferably an LJ or LJ-clone-based one. I've been looking all over but I'm so picky that I haven't been able to find one I like and there aren't many good, central places to look. I can't play her where I'm at already because I'm playing Melchior there :/
