Yes, ladies and gentlemen. After loving this musical for over... three years now, I think, I have finally seen the darn thing live. WITH RACHELLE (![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
prosopopeya) TO BOOT. AND we stagedoored which is the first time I've stagedoored anything.
Okay, so, it was crazy rainy and traffic and... we got there like half an hour late.

And ended up walking into the lobby as Touch Me was wrapping up. Which is kind of devastating but I GOT OVER IT. It was like five people's last and the last before the tour's little couple-month break so there was lots of crying and it was awesome and I'd never seen/heard anything of Jake's Melchior or Claire's Thea and I was so happy that they were good and I could sit there and be like OMG I'VE NEVER HEARD THAT LINE SAID LIKE THAT BEFORE because you know me. Like... their beating scene was probably the best I've ever seen anyone do ever. I'm serious. And... everyone was just good, I mean, like, I even usually hate Andy Mientus but he wasn't bothering me.prosopopeya and I were saying we both spent more time watching things like the lights and the ensemble than the leads for much of it because, you know, you can see videos but those are things that... you just have to experience, and even if it's something that can be captured, it isn't often. One thing video can never beat live theater on is that ability to look at whatever the hell you want, not just what the master decides they want to focus on. It's just... sfklsfns. I love that show.
Um, Totally Fucked is amazing live. So are the lights in MBN. So is DDS/BW. Um, I loled the most actually at the beginning of the beating scene when Christy's Wendla was like MELCHIOR GABOR :DDD and Jake's Melchior just looked up and went "You," and then went and like, finished his sentence in his journal as Christy was like SO :DDD and then stood up and answered her. omg melchior makes me lol
AND SINCE IT WAS BASHOFF'S LAST WE GOT OUR MELCHIOR/MORITZ HUG IN PURPLE SUMMER and Men and Women touched hands and it was all very sweet.
One crazy thing I noticed is MAN THESE PEOPLE ARE ALL TINY IN THIS SHOW. Like Bertha is their characters' age and she would tower over some of these boys even I swear to God.
Stagedoor was craaazy because at first it was rainy and there was a hueg line of people, like more than I expected for a tour matinee (though there is no evening show). Like half of us got yelled at to go against this wall, but the other half, the front half, was like, on the other side. And Rachelle and I were around the beginning of the second half, so actors would like, attempt to do the front half and then sneak off at the split... before that even happened, the second person out the stage door was Chase Davidson, and he tried to leave just a little before us and Rachelle ran down the alley and caught him. I was like, half lmao and half traumatized but I swear to God if it had been just me I would've gotten like, 2 pictures. Because I'm like, oh... they didn't see me... I'll just... let them... I'm sure they're busy... and have places to be... INSTEAD we got pics with everyone who came out, and the only person who didn't (of those that were on) was Adult Women Angela, at least as far as we saw. HERE'S THE COLLECTION:

lmao omg so, first of all, ME WITH FREDDY HALL (GUITARIST) AND MARQUES WALLS (DRUMS). Christy was like, hiding at the end of the line, and as we were waiting for a chance to grab her, Freddy and Marques were just like, standing around. Freddy had gotten some people wanting his signature further up in the line but, you know... he's just the guitarist. So Rachelle convinced me to get a picture with them, and one of them was like, SAY FIRECRACKER and we had to take like three pictures because they kept saying FIRECRACKER!!! at the wrong time and end up talking it in the picture. They were like... my favorite people at stagedoor. I was loling so much. Freddy asked Rachelle if she wanted a pic too and she was like no thanks I'm not a musician and Freddy said WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?! and I said that she didn't appreciate him, and Rachelle was like no, no, I just don't want to take up your time, you know, though sure I'll have a picture and Freddy was like TOO BAD THE OFFER'S PASSED NOW and Marques went FREDDY and then they took a picture:

US AND BLAKE BASHOFF (MORITZ) WHO JUST GOT HIS HAIR CUT BEFORE HE CAME OUT. I told him how we overheard this guy walking away from him going MAN I THOUGH THAT WAS HIS REAL HAIR [IN THE SHOW] all disappointed. IT WAS XD

And we were somewhere in that blob sort of XD So they tended to try and sort of half-ass the second section of the line, or like skip over the weirdness where the lines met and just jump to the more normal second part of the line (especially since those people were more pushy than us so they'd like run forward and grab people before they even really looked at us). It was crazy. HOPEFULLY OTHER PLACES STAGEDOORING IS MORE ORGANIZED.
