WE SAW PHANTOM TONIGHT. LIKE FOR REALS PHANTOM FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER (LAST TIME I SAW PHANTOM VEGAS).

WE HAD SOME UNDERSTUDIES WHICH MADE US HAPPY. CARLOTTA, ANDRE, AND SOME ENSEMBLEY PEOPLE.

AND SO I THOUGHT JOHN CUDIA WAS STILL TOUR PHANTOM AND I WAS EXCITED BECAUSE I KNOW HE'S GOOD... AND THEN WE GOT TO THE THEATER AND JOHN'S NAME WASN'T ON THE CAST BOARD AND WE WERE LIKE WHAAAT AND RACHELLE NOTICED THAT TIM MARTIN GLEASON WAS THERE AND I WAS LIKE REALLY. HE IS NOT RAOUL ON TOUR AGAIN, IS HE?

HE WAS OUR PHANTOM.

AND YOU KNOW I'M NOT TOO EASILY IMPRESSED WITH PHANTOM BUT HIS PHANTOM WAS SO CHILDISHLY VULNERABLE AND OUR CHRISTINE HAD A GORGEOUS VOICE AND IT WAS JUST ALL SO GOOD. SO GOOD.

That's awesome Tim was a good Phantom :) He was the Raoul I saw a few months ago, and he was good in that role as well. I've heard a little of him as Erik - although, I have to say I prefer John. It also helps that I met John at the stage door, and he's still one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life.

BTW - I'm not trying to satlk you :) I found you on a musical trading site, and you said you saw Phantom. I wanted to see if you reviewed it and you did! I'll go away now xDD *bamf*

I can't believe I didn't mention it in the post, but I was freaking out so much over Tim because I've only seen Phantom live once before (Vegas) and he was my Raoul. It's like, what are the odds? And I think I like what I've heard of John better, too, but I think I had rather low expectations for Tim (I'm not a big fan of his Raoul and I didn't like what I'd heard of him as an understudy) and was content enough to see that he completely blew away those expectations. I do think I liked this trio better than the trio I saw in Vegas (Barrett/Loyacano/Gleason).

We were going to stagedoor (and tell Tim he was my first Raoul though I'm sure he's heard that a billion times before) and we did hang around there for a bit but a) the only other people there were a couple family members of actors and it was kind of awkward and b) unlike Spring Awakening, where we were like LOOK IT'S THE DRUMMER LET'S GET A PICTURE WITH HIM we didn't know this cast well enough nor did we sit close enough to recognize who anyone was.

And it's fine! You're like the second person this week who has gone to see if I reviewed a show and then apologized for looking like a stalker :P They wouldn't be public posts if I didn't appreciate comments.

I've heard the Vegas Phantom is seriously lacking when it comes to quality - still, I'd love to see it though (and I ADORE their playbills). I wish John would come back to the tour, and I think he's supposed to . . . Howard McGillian really needs to make up his mind on whether or not he's retiring from Broadway, or staying there forever so poor John can have a stable job -_-

We happened to catch John on accident. We waited around, but no one was really "Oh, let me sign this for you." Finally, he came out and this woman with a little girl hounded himd own. She told him this was daughter's first show (it was the girl's sixth birthday), and how they both loved him. So he gladly signed their playbills. I just kinda. . stood behind him and asked if I could have it too xD Next to Michael Gruber, he was the best stage door experience I've ever had.

I thought Vegas Phantom just as a concept was good, or at least when I saw it in previews -- I mean, I think they did the best they could with it considering the criteria of a) 90 minutes and b) ... Vegas, though just by nature it pretty much can't be better than the original show. The talent was... idk. Not incredible when I saw it, though I only actively disliked one person.

ANYWAY. That's adorable. We had some little girls near us all dressed up and awestruck and it made us happy. There were some preteen girls in the row in front of us groaning how they're doing it "wrong" and the movie was SO much better. They didn't make us happy.
