Didn't I say there are FF.net authors who could write a better sequel? Didn't I?! I am entering the early hours of the morning so I shall simply quote my away message, then quote my review, then give you a link.

"I have spent 5 hours reading a fanfiction sequel to ALW's interpretation of The Phantom of the Opera which slaughters Frederick Forsyth's The Phantom of Manhattan, a sad excuse for a sequel which somehow managed to get published, a couple thousand times over."

"Why this particular story caught my attention I am not sure, but all I know is, with my family having gone to bed long ago, here I am at 3:30am having sat here for almost 5 hours straight reading all 19 chapters. 3 chapters in, even, I said to a friend I was chatting with who has long since gone to bed, that this is the most well written and well thought out fanfiction I have ever encountered on so far, though I don't spend a lot of time here. I've read some that are elegantly written, I've read some with good plots, I've read some that evoke emotion, but I've never really known what the right amounts of all three in fanfiction really looked like before this.

It could be a published book, easily. Frederick Forsyth's The Phantom of Manhattan, so well known among phans (I said well known, not well liked. From what I've found everyone seems to have their opinion of it), I was never very fond of (In fact, after reading it I commented that there were probably sequels on that could do a better job, here I am ;D) and it almost seems like this fic should be the one in stores. But I like it better, here, than in a book- there's a certain intimacy in reading a fanfic here online rather than buying a book, knowing that the writer is like you a great fan of a work and was inspired by it enough to expand on it, and is willing to offer you that entertainment for no price simply because they enjoy it.

I usually have some sort of criticism or advice to offer fanfic authors, even when (as usually is the case) I know that it will be a long while before I write as well as them- I am still a reader who knows what she likes to read. Here, from both the reader and the writer in me as alike and different as they are, all I can say is... thank you. Thanks for sharing these 18 chapters so far, I feel almost... privliged, to be reading them here in the as I said almost intimate setting of My night (And early morning ;)) have not been wasted.

Be assured I shall be lurking about uncharacteristic of me, eagerly awaiting more like the fanfiction-stalking ninja I am.

(As to my inability to respond to what I have read so far in anything more than an emotional fashion, I did mention it is past 3:30 in the morning, right?)"
